Alex Jacobson

Alex Jacobson is UNATCO's communications engineer and JC Denton's conscience at times, as he monitors all that JC sees and experiences over the latter's Infolink. He offers the occasional tip, up-to-the-minute information and mission changes, and will every once in a while criticize JC's mistakes, most notably if the player kills Anna Navarre on Juan Lebedev's 747. Despite any actions JC makes, Alex remains loyal to JC, and will go so far as to erase the Infolink archives if JC does anything that will threaten his position at UNATCO.

When JC escapes from UNATCO HQ Alex gives him the key to escape, provided Navarre is dead, either previously killed or killed at HQ. Once Alex gives JC the key, Alex tells JC he will slip out on his own. He follows JC first to Hong Kong, at Tracer Tong's lab in the Luminous Path Triad's compound, and then to Paris, where he stays for the remainder of the game, continuing to help JC from Morgan Everett's home. He reveals to JC that Tong sent him to Everett to keep an eye on the Illuminatus, as Everett has his own agenda for combating Majestic-12.
